  2. What about the Singapore Airline pilots that successfully avoided disaster after the A380 engine blew shortly after takeoff resulting in nearly severing the left wing.

    • Singapore Airlines or Quantas…..? Or there was another inccident,I know of Quantas in Singappore intl arpt.correct me if I’m wrong

  3. Outstanding overview of the year in aviation. It’s always exciting to see new technology, like the 747-8 and the 787 enter the industry and always sad to see people killed by the same causes, like pilot error. The American Airlines bankruptcy business is especially disturbing. In the past, airlines have used bankruptcy protection as a form of artificial life-support while they dealt with financial issues. Typically unions are hammered into submission and pension funds are raided while the executives are awarded bonuses. There’s an excellent book out there on this phenomenon called “Why Can’t We Make Money in Aviation,” by Adam Pilarski. It’s available on Kindle at Amazon. It’s a quick read and is extremely enlightening.

  4. I’m interested in hosting a fly in at a local airport to raise awareness for General Aviation, maybe some money for my local CAP unit, interest prospective pilots in the area (to help out my instructor) and have a good time in general for everyone.

I’ve heard of things like spot landing competitions and the like, are there any other fun things like this?

The airport would probably be a class G grass strip, since i probably wouldn’t be able to get permission from the bigger class E (soon to be D) airport.

    Thanks!
