A medical helicopter crashed this morning in Palatka, Florida. The three people killed were the pilot, a surgeon, and a medical technician. The helicopter was carrying two employees of the Mayo Clinic to the University of Florida to pick up donated organs. No patients were onboard at the time of the accident. The surgeon has been identified as Dr. Luis Bonilla and the medical technician has been identified as David Hines. The pilot worked for SK Jets, the owner and operator of the helicopter. The helicopter was a Bell 206. His name hasn’t been released. There are no details as to what exactly caused the helicopter to crash. I’ll post an update here once more information becomes available.
